Strong in love, peaceful and restful
Led by Ian Adams and Gail Adams
An invitation to explore the gift of Julian of Norwich, in the spacious and beautiful setting of Sheldon. The title - Strong in love, peaceful and restful - comes from the closing of the Short Text of Julian's Revelations of Divine Love and will be our focus on this retreat. It reflects our own experience of spending time in the company of Julian, and it will be our hope and prayer for you.
The retreat will offer a spacious mix of teaching, stillness and contemplative prayer, with suggestions for photography and creative attention to the beautiful land and sky-scapes at Sheldon.
Following evening meal on Monday until after Morning Prayer on Friday this will be a silent retreat. Gail and Ian will lead one session on Monday evening, then two sessions (mid-morning and late afternoon) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Each session will comprise teaching, stillness and led contemplative prayer. Ian will also be sharing some poems from his Unfurling collection.
Guests are invited to join the community for Morning Prayer each day, and to a simple evening prayer on Tuesday and Wednesday led by Gail and Ian. There will be a eucharist on Thursday evening.
There will also be the opportunity for some one-to-one conversations with Gail or Ian.
Ian Adams and Gail Adams are retreat leaders with lengthy experience in chaplaincy and ministry in the Church of England, and are founders of the spirituality project Beloved Life.
